Louder Mixes, Smarter SaturationĮach of the four XL frequency bands have dedicated gain, drive and XL (mix) controls allowing you to increase the perceived volume of the signals without boosting its actual output level, giving you louder, punchier mixes. You can dial in analog warmth and subtle overdrive on individual tracks, or apply it to the stereo bus to thicken an entire mix. It features Brainworx´s “True Split” crossover technology, which ensures that the Mid and Side channels are always perfectly in phase, resulting in focused, huge-sounding mixes and masters.įrom subtle mix glue to insane crunch, the bx_saturator V2 lets you fatten and distort Mid and Side signals of your mix independently. If I was still on R10/11, I'd be vehemently arguing for the opposite. The bx_saturator V2 is an M/S & multi-band saturation tool that’s ideal for mastering, mixing and sound-design. (Obviously, I'm saying all this as a R12 owner, so I've kinda got a vested interest in seeing it included as an R12 exclusive. (I'm not a great fan of QNG, so improving on that wouldn't be too hard, imho.) It may be that whatever that secret ingredient is, it might be dependent upon a new SDK.

If, as Rootwheel suggests, the new SDK allows for greater functionality, then it would be foolish for Reason to not take advantage of that in developing this new Player.įurthermore, it seems likely that for a Bassline Generator to be at all 'cutting edge', it needs to do something significantly different/better than the stuff that can be achieved with PolyStep Sequencer or QNG. It would also, of course, be an incentive for more people to sign up to R12 or R+. This would definitely appease the 'early adopters' who bought R12 outright (and who, in some cases, were dissatisfied or frustrated with the various bugs and glitches.) On the flipside, I think it could be a smart move to release it as a built-in 'R12 only' device, included free with both the subscription AND the perpetual licensed version. Hope it is in the shop, as I'm sure there's plenty of Reason 11 and Reason 10 owners who would be interested in buying it - unless of course it's built using a new SDK which is Reason 12 only but which supports MIDI note bends. Good point - I've been assuming that they'd release it as a standalone RE in the shop but perhaps you're right, they may choose instead to release it 'for free' to Reason 12 and Reason+ owners only, as an embedded device that's part of the next Reason 12.x update.
